although there are certain sections of homeopathy and homeopaths which might claim to do so.
if you are ready to take up the case you have to be responsible professionally to handle the complications as and when they arise.
as a physician primarily you have to decide what suits your patient the most.medicine or surgical intervention.
if you want to treat medically or homeopathically
1. try to determine the size of the opening of ASD..
2. take the entire history like you have mentioned in your post.
3.if you think the case is syphillitic in nature try to understand that aspect in the patient with regards to the state of physicals and the disposition..
now our role primarily as physician and then homeopath
1.try to treat the complications and infections as and when they arise.
2.watch the overall growth of the patient
3. delay the complications or pulmonary hypertension or reversal of shunt or formation of eisenmengers syndrome.
so take a decision based on various factors about the approach.. whatever you decide we fellow homeopaths will be there...
hello.. now ASD ie atrial septal defect is basically a acynotic heart disease
ie ... the child will not turn blue... like in some other congenital heart diseases.
the other acynotic heart disease include VSD or ventricular septal defect
this disorder by itself if small and uncomplicated will not cause any symptoms in children.
but as the child grows and reaches 20+ age group.. the child may develop certain complications
also the child may remain physically underdeveloped as he grows, also increased chances of infection are there
normally blood in the heart flows from right to left ....ie body--superior venacava--right side---pulmonary artery---lungs ---pulmonary vein---- left side---aorta---body...
the left side of the heart pumps blood at more high pressure...than right side...normally..
also as the child grows or the opening is large then a left to right shunt .....develops in which blood flows from left to the right side of the heart..which in turn causes more pressure on the right side and the pulmonary vasculature.... and hence there might be reversal of shunt leading to right to left flow of blood ... resulting in mixing of oxygenated and non oxygenated blood.this is s a syndrome called "eisenmenger's syndrome" may occur..which is associated with high mortality...in this there might be increased breathlessness, haemoptysis ie spitting of blood.. and finally cynaosis..and organ damage...
in uncomplicated cases if surgically corrected leads to low mortality rate...
If Eisenmenger's syndrome has occurred, there is significant risk of mortality regardless of the method of closure of the ASD.
Closure of an ASD in individuals under age 25 has been shown to have a low risk of complications, and individuals have a normal lifespan (comparable to a healthy age-matched population).
Yes, its a wonderful dog, we brought her with us when we moved from Hamburg to the countryside. I'm sure she likes it much more even if her former owner treated her well.
Re swallows, I'm always glad to see them coming back each year at the end of April. But they have a rought time here now and it's getting worse each year. This year only the second litter survived, one year it was too hot and the other years their nest fell off.
A German homeopath in Greece, wow ! As Vithoulkas is not a physician assume that non-medical practitioners can practice homeopathy in Greece ?
Welcome on board to our wonderful HWC community Alexandra - together we can make HOMEOPATHY an every day household word all around the world - I´m looking forward to seeing your inputs on the walls of our Groups here.
The case u have described have more scope in homoeopathy... since it is a structural defect the child must have a deep miasmatic background , so it is necessary for having a consultation with the parents and also about the pregnancy history... if this is done by a eminent homoeopath the child can be recovered soon.
Do have a consultation with the nearby homoeopathic physician...
Hi Alex, and a BIG WELCOME to you here !
Interesting story you described about your way to homeopathy, and, you must really have a big brain ! Do you continue studying with BIH ? I'm going to finish the post graduate course early in 2010. Hope your husband does not have to travel a lot, unless he enjoys it. My husband now works at the shipyard (project planning), he didn't like seafarer life very much and is quite family oriented - to our kids delight.
