Sign and symptoms are the expression of disease itself. Homoeopathy treats the totality of symtopms. homoeopathy treats the root cause. If root cause is treated no disease will remain other than health. sign and symptoms are in consideration of totality of root of disease. So if we cut the root no plant or tree will survive.

If we go with homoeopathic concept of - How disease had developed. The dynamic disturebance of mind, soul and body i.e. disturbance in vital force.
Our medicine s are prepeared according to potentisation process Which is dynamic in nature.

We are treating the dynamic disturbances in the patient which we called diseases force. We are treating the origine of disease.

"Homeopathy can remove the symptoms, but the disease remains" where the DISEASE is the Herpes itself and the SYMPTOM is its physical and mental effects on the human being or living entities i.e. when we say disease, we are talking about a "phenomena", which has its particular effects on living beings and Homeopathy cures the symptoms caused by diseases. Disease it's just a naming of a sick phenomena or state and the sick state cause symptoms in living entities.... I could approach this with equivocal thoughts...

Interpretation of the words both of the Patients' and the written texts are in many cases become a bit over complicated by us. From my experience, that particular keyword in the Patient's phrases and the body language together gives the hint for the path to follow in finding the appropriate remedy/ies.

So, the disease always remains and the symptoms, hopefully, will be cured, and hopefully, Homeopathy helps a lot.

Here is a naturopathic view of what Hufeland said with an answer and a case history in my own family. Disease epically chronic disease is like the children’s toy where you hit the peg with the hammer. The peg represents the symptom, hit the peg with the hammer (medicine) and it disappears but another peg comes up else where. You have taken care of the symptom but the reason for the symptom the disease still remains and causes another peg to come up. Another way of putting it is if you remove a weed by cutting (medicine) only the top (symptom) of it off you have solved the symptom but the cause the root (disease) still remains and can return. To really cure the disease you must get to the root and pull the whole thing out. Humans are much to complex to apply only a medicine to stop the symptom, the whole person must be treated. The naturopathic approach is to treat the five areas of lifestyle which are nourishment, elimination, exercise, stress and spiritually. Any one or all of these could be the direct cause of the disease so by treating all five at once you get to the root of the disease. My mother's case is a perfect example. She had childhood asthma and was on medication which helped the symptoms but never cured the disease. She developed hyperthyroid disease at 30 years of age; the medicine solved her symptoms but never cured the disease. In her late seventies she developed Alzheimer’s disease and as it progressed she was completely cured of the asthma and the thyroid diseases and no longer needed the medications. Here is what I believe happened; the asthma and thyroid problems were brought on by stress in her childhood that she could never forgive. The stress of being left at a parochial school by her parents where she says the nuns were very abusive. She carried a deep seated anger that you only saw when she talked about those times and she was never able to forgive her parents or the nuns which stunted her spiritually. Those two of the five lifestyle causes of her disease roots were cured when the Alzheimer’s disease wiped out the emotion of the stress and her inability to spiritually forgive those involved. This is a simplistic way to put Hufeland’s statement but it can easily be explained to a patient so they understand why just taking a medication for a symptom will really only relieve the symptom not the disease. To truly cure a chronic disease the work of pulling the roots must be done.

What Gary is explaining it that the disease state is not normal. Pruning out the illness leaves a whole healthy tree and organism without disease. Root, stem, trunk, branches are all of the tree in its natural healthy state and wholesome environment. As if saying, "We are born pure and whole." Our vital force is unchanged. Kudos to Gary for always bringing back the words of Organon and Hahnemann. ♥

It is like cutting the branches of tree and keeping root and trunk sound.

Provocative question. If symptoms are gone, is disease still there?
