Creating Waves of Awareness

We have enough space to move around, to play our favorite games, to dump our wastes and pollutants. We also have enough money to make weapons and fight each other over silly reasons. We also have money to make huge buildings and shopping malls. On the other side of the globe, there are people who count their days.

There is one country in this world, which is sinking day by day. It is one among the few smallest countries in the world – Tuvalu. It is a Polynesian island nation located in the Pacific Ocean, midway between Hawaii and Australia. It comprises four reef islands and five true atolls spread out from 6° to 10° south. Tuvalu is the fourth smallest country in the world.

Day by day, the water level is rising due to global warming. If we offer the money we waste for silly reasons to this country, it is possible to make a wall around to prevent further erosion of the land. It is said that this country will be under the seawater within a few years. If we can't help them, at least do not trouble them by hastening the rate of global warming.

Here is an example of the innovation of the Dutch.

I hope seawall protection can help them to lessen the problem. We must salute the people who constructed the Great wall of China (8,851.8 km) for the sake of protection. I think these countries can follow the Chinese method; but not possible without the support of the international community.

Very good Dr Rafeeque. This tiny island is certainly not the only place on earth that will be under water soon. I imagine New York City and Miami Florida and many Atlantic ocean islands along the outer banks will all go the same way. My opinion has always been that humans should not build in these locations that we have the option to go inland. The ocean reclaims the land. Tidal waves and tsunamis will do the job for us. Lives will be lost.

Better to relocate the population and build new cities where we predict will be a new coastline. Of course, I am all for reducing global warming. We waste like there is no tomorrow. Hugs, Debby

P.S. Norway and other countries have managed to live in tenuous situations for centuries, finding innovative ways to deal with the seas.
