Petition To Stop Killing 1600 Whales and Dolphins

Recently, I have been writing about feeling overwhelmed and also taking action on my FaceBook page. Perhaps others also feel like we're asked to take too many actions, especially on all these petition pages on Care2, etc. All of these messages vie for our attention and we wonder whether we have any personal quiet space or can just read something for pure pleasure? Does everything have to end in a 'click?'  I don't think I have an answer for everyone out there. Personally, I also feel overwhelmed with trying to save all that's wrong with our world. I wonder why people in charge of really big decisions can be so unethical, inhumane and despicable. Yeah. I'm not too happy with some of the things done in the name of progress. Take a look at the latest insanity below. Sorry, it's another petition. Then listen to the whales songs.

  • What gift does the whale provide to homeopaths?

Ambra Grisea (girilal), the fatty substance from the whale's intestines, helps those who are most shy, nervous, anxious, more so than silica patients.

  • Dr. Rajender Nath WahiKey provides this list of clinical problems: Constipation, Cough, Dyspepsia, Fainting, Hysteria, Menstrual Disorders, Leucorrhoea, Restlessness.

  • Sankaran tells us "embarrassment" most marked, and that the person absolutely cannot go to stool in the presence of others. They would definitely wait until they were only in their own home, with privacy. I have also read that those needing this remedy most often feel 'insulted' by some past offense.

  • In addition, the person has a difficult time speaking in a group, in public and can even lead to difficult thinking. All this worry makes it impossible to sleep at night with anxious dreams. Then after midnight the stomach distends with indigestion.

  • In the realm of respiration, we see the nervous cough in spasms and paroxysms worse from talking, reading out loud and, of course, in public. Thus, we get a total picture of this extremely shy person in every way.

  • Known to help shy children, especially females, other emotions, like sadness and weeping appear. Now if you were a whale and you couldn't sing your song to communicate with others how would you feel?

  • Much more can be learned about the whale. Just think about the incredible variation in the whale's vocalizations to produce moans, grunts, blasts and shrieks.

  • Each part of their song is made up of sound waves. Some of these sound waves are high frequency. If you could see these sounds, they would look like tall, pointed mountains. Whales also emit low frequency sound waves. These waves are like hills that are wide spread apart. These sound waves can travel very far in water without losing energy. Researchers believe that some of these low frequency sounds can travel more than 10,000 miles in some levels of the ocean!

My friend posted this one on FaceBook. I can't believe I'm signing another petition and now sharing with others. In fact, I actually registered on this petition website!

So, this is a no-brainer. Why the heck would they blast the oceans with decibel levels to incapacitate and kill these precious mammals? Who makes up these things? Have they no compassion or thought behind their actions?

Subject: Navy to deafen 11,200 whales and dolphins and kill 1,600 more

The Navy is required to include comments on their Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) re: the use of high frequency underwater sound for testing in Hawaii and off the coast of California. According to their estimates it will deafen 11,200 whales and dolphins and kill 1,600 more over the next 7 years. Whales and dolphins depend on sound to navigate and live. Your signature and comment will have to be included in the EIS and could stop this Naval program, potentially saving the lives of these ocean creatures. The comments must be in by July 10, 2012.

That's why I signed a petition to U.S. Navy EIS Comments, which says:

"Stop the killing of 1,600 whales and dolphins and the deafening of 11,200 more by ceasing the operation of the Navy's underwater sound system in the Hawaiian Islands and California coastline."

Can you imagine if your means of communication with the world, others of your species was completely composed of music, melodies and signals? What if your sense of hearing was lost and your ability to speak cut off? What if, like bats, you needed your radar or sonar to prevent you from bumping into walls?

Some scientists tried to understand the language of these oceanic animals.

This most beautiful scene requires your patience as the communication unfolds.

I'm adding one little piece of news about how the human race dumps their waste into the ocean which ends up killing whales. There are a number of petitions out their to stop the use of production of plastic bags. One outcome is the destruction of whales.

Petition To Stop Plastic Bags |

  • Target: local businesses in Wilmington, NC
  • Sponsored by: Erica Truman

Plastic Bags are only used for about 10 minutes and then tossed. They are difficult to recycle and it is not economically efficient to do so. Plastic bags also cost businesses lots of money to offer them free to consumers. Plastic bags never biodegrade and even when it breaks into smaller peices it only enters our food chain. Plastic Bags often fly away or make their way into our oceans. This kind of environmental and health damage is not worth the 10 minute convenience of a plastic bag. Furthermore, the daily use of plastic bags only perpetuates our reliance on oil. Please, stop using and/or offering plastic bags. Doing so could make a tremendous difference in our environment and economy both locally and globally.
