Creating Waves of Awareness

It would have been impolite to not respond to the invitation of George Vithoulkas, and  moreover a visit to the Academy of Classical Homeopathy, where thousands of homeopaths are trained , was not to be missed. I was left the choice to pick one day from Friday on of the Open trainings. I could then   follow the course as a guest and a meeting with George was arranged. The course started on Thursday though and as I explored the island for a few days by now, walking and swimming, I figured I could as well join the first day to have a taste of it.

In the hall homeopaths from many different countries including the USA, India, Norway, Mexico, Portugal, France and Romania, gathered. The majority of them come here for years already.
Jorgos Kavouris taught  the first one and a half hour of the morning and afternoon session and after the breaks George appeared, receiving applause whenever he came in or left the room.

He started with sharing his ideas about the new types of flu we’ve seen this winter. Maybe with age came mildness and wisdom but the now 81 year old master is as clear and outspoken as ever.
For the meeting he took me to his office and let me explain everything about the purpose and the meaning of the Walk for Homeopathy. He asked many questions as he does in consultation: can I say he took the Walk’s case?. During the conversation he shared his concern for homeopathy in Western European countries but on the other hand was glad to see it blooming in Greece.

Here, in one of the main homeopathic centers, the life work of maybe the most important homeopath of het last decades who  engendered a real homeopathic renaissance last century, the need for a ‘Walk for Homeopathy’ doesn’t seem big and my action looks quite futile.
In Germany sometimes I was overtaken by a similar feeling:  as all is legal, organized and available, hence no action is required.

There are a few more considerations though. Homeopathy is still far from being taken seriously and considered the main healing system readily available and until that time homeopaths will have no rest. And in the homeopathic community there is a need to communicate and connect in order to speak with ‘one voice’.

I decided to follow the Open trainings the remaining days as well: it seemed a good idea to be immersed in the theory and the application of the ‘Levels of Health’ and to make the most of being in the presence of a living legend.

The overall atmosphere is one of enthusiasm and passion from a group of hard working homeopaths, eager to learn more about the right classical homeopathy, encouraged by their impressive and convincing results. As far as I could understand from the conversations there seems to be consensus that those results prove the validity of the method used. But as I wrote in a previous post, since other methods seems to yield similar convincing  results, it is time to realize other dynamics must play a role.
Using an image I’ll try to clarify my point.  If a person learns to play the piano and is passionate about it, practices for many years and is talented, then he will come in a position where he can allow music to happen. Every musician is driven to experience this, the moments he transcends himself and ‘music happens’. Whether he plays Bach or jazz is not the point: that’s a difference in style but it doesn’t determine the value of it. The one is not better than the other. Both can be equally virtuosic and artistic. Music can be brought about by either one
In a similar way a healer has to study, adapt or develop a method that suits him and practice it with full dedication until he masters it. When his is driven by the wish to heal, he will allow it to happen. No matter what style or method he uses. And no doubt this is what we witness when George is at work.

My observation is that in homeopathy there seems to be the same polarization at work we see in all other domains: simultaneously there is a tendency towards fundamentalism and sectarianism , where people emphasize their differences and one towards global consciousness. The next phase will be one of expressing ones uniqueness yet in a consciousness of being one and all connected. ‘One yet unique’ is the challenge we are confronted with

If therefore the Walk might not have had much of a social role to play in Alonissos, it is a statement that has to be understood against this background. It’s about living authentic, or living one’s truth, and taking the freedom instead of asking or waiting for it, it’s about following your passion , empowerment and giving something back  for all that is given to us,  it’s about doing the thing that makes your heart sing; and homeopathy is a cause worth all that.
