My Visit to a Homeopathic Farmhouse in Malaysia

During my recent visit to Malaysia in association with the seminar organized by PPHM (Homeopathic Medical Association of Malaysia), I was lucky to visit one place that I wanted to visit since long. On the last day of the seminar, the organizers asked me for a local sight seeing in and around Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia. They were expecting me suggesting some famous tourist destination in the heart of Malaysia, but my first choice was to visit a farm house run by Mr Ivan Ho and his family. Ivan is a great fan of Late Vaikundanath Das Kaviraj, the world famous AgroHomeopath who popularized the use of Homeopathy for various disease affecting the plants.

During my previous visit to Malaysia, I wanted to visit that place, but due to lack of time, it did not happen. Luckily, this time I got one extra day free for the local sight seeing. My request to visit the farm house was warmly welcomed by Mr Ivan and his team.

(Ivan receiving us)

I was accompanied by Dr Zahir Abdul Wahab and Dr Kamal, members of PPHM, Malaysia. After 40 minutes drive from Kuala Lumpur city, we reached the destination. We were welcomed by Mr Ivan and his father who is also a dynamic and energetic person like his son.

(Demo of compost processing)

First, we had a look at the compost processing unit of his farm house. He uses vegetable and other waste materials from the kitchen, after removing the plastics and other non biodegradable items. Normally we expect bad odor from the compost mixture, but we hardly felt any bad odor. As per Mr Ivan, he uses Homeopathic medicines like Kreosot to make the bio-fertilizer odorless, but without affecting its quality. The tips given by Kaviraj often guide him in the selection of suitable homeopathic medicines for the plants and animals.

Ivan also uses homeopathic medicines for the soil in order to make it suitable for the vegetables and plants. Even the marshy nature of the soil was changed after the use of homeopathic medicines like Naturm Sulph, Evan says.

(Butterfly - Member of his family)

His farm house contains different varieties of medicinal plants, which also includes plants used in homeopathy. There are several edible leaves and flowers found only in Malaysia. Apart from that, there are different varieties of animals, vegetables, trees, etc. For the cattle and other animals such as sheep, rabbits, dogs, he never uses antibiotics and vaccines, instead of that, uses Homeopathic potencies. During our visit, we hardly see any plants or animals affected by any kind of sickness. When I crushed the leaves plucked from the ginger garden, I could strongly feel the aroma of ginger that proves its quality, rich in active principles. Also there is cultivation of Curcuma Longa and many other medicinal herbs.

(Shelter for the insects)

He is also having a large pond for different verities of edible fishes of huge size. I need not mention the fact that those fishes are also under the care of Homeopathy. The hives for the honey bees provide natural honey, which is free from antibiotics and toxins (Majority of Apiculturists use sugar solution mixed with antibiotics to prevent infection in honey bees, which results in the presence of antibiotics in the honey that is harmful to the consumers). We were lucky to taste the fresh honey directly taken from the honeycomb. It was so yummy that I can’t explain in words.

(Vaccine/toxin free animals)

There is also facility for the school children to study the nature by staying in the houses and huts provided by them. There is facility for natural cooking of traditional foods like bamboo-rice, using the traditional utensils provided by them. Training is often given for the children on healthy living with the nature. Ivan also finds time to give general idea about Homeopathy and its efficacy in curing diseases affecting the plants and animals.

(Sharing the knowledge to the next generation who knows only ipads and ipods)

Ivan also provides natural shelter for all kinds of animals including locusts, worms, spiders, butterflies, snakes etc in his farm house. It proves that his intention is not to run a business by running a farmhouse and hatchery, but to provide a shelter for all animals, and to give respect to the mother earth.

That day, the climate in Malaysia was little hot, but in the farmhouse we could feel the natural fresh air, strengthened by the aroma of medicinal plants. No doubt, it is a Homeopathic farm house by all means!

@ Dr Wequar Ali Khan

The situation of Homeopathy in Malaysia is really improving. Now they have the Homeopathic medical council and many recognized organizations to issue the certificates and license. For training, they often conduct seminars, also visit university in Indonesia. Recently they have started Homeopathic full time course at Cyberjaya university. There are many people interested in homeopathy. The only difficulty i noticed was, practicing at home is not allowed, which is also applicable to modern medicine and other systems. Those who practice must have clinic with all basic facilities. I feel that is the main reason to affect the growth of our system.

Your article is a living proof that, Dr Kaviraj,s legacy is moving on and alive.I have had the pleasure of working with him during the Haiti earthquake, when he was transiting Miami to go to Haiti. He spent some time with me, where my apartment had become a " warehouse" for homeopathic medicines which came from donors all around USA. He also gave me his autograph on his famous book "Homeopathy for farms and garden"  which i cherish.

Dr Rafeeque, you have done well to talk about the farm and its owners who have done well with "homeopathic farm house", my best wishes to the Ivan family and you for sharing your experiences with HWC.

I would request you to share your experience about the seminar and present status of homeopathy in Malaysia. I was there with MAS, during post gulf war for a year and a half, and at that time there was only one Homeopathic clinic which i had visited, and the doctor there was trained at a homeopathic college in Pakistan.

Thank you Dr Rafique for this interesting, informative and well presented article.

I visited Maylasia two years ago . I visiteed Cameron highland where they have built hydroponic farms where they grow strawberries, lettuce, tomatoes and other greens round the year without using pesticides.

A pity that I did not know about the Ivan's place then, therwise i would also have visited it.
