Infertility and its Homeopathic Remedies

Introduction

Infertility primarily refers to the biological inability of a person (male / female) to contribute to conception. Infertility may also refer to the state of a woman who is unable to carry a pregnancy to full term .Specifically infertility may be termed as the failure by a couple to conceive after one year of unprotected intercourse or in other words infertility is a condition of the reproductive system that prevents the conception of children. Primary infertility is infertility in a couple who have never had a child. Secondary infertility is failure to conceive following a previous pregnancy. Infertility may be caused by infection in the man or woman, but often there is no obvious underlying cause. Infertility happens to 1 out of 6 couple on the average (HWC, 2012), On the average infertility happens 30 percent with woman, 30 percent with men, 30 percent with both partners and 10 percent case unknown ( WHAW 2012)

Conception and pregnancy are complicated processes that depend upon a number of factors, including:

i. The production of healthy sperm by the man
ii. healthy eggs produced by the woman
iii. Unblocked fallopian tubes that allow the sperm to reach the egg
iv. The sperm's ability to fertilize the egg when they meet
v. The ability of the fertilized egg (embryo) to become implanted in the woman's uterus; and,
vi. Sufficient embryo quality.

Major infertility problems with female Partner:

i. Irregular menstruation cycle
ii. Age above 30 years
iii. Problems of uterus or fallopian tube
iv. Long term use of anticonception pills
v. Life style ( alcohol , Smoking )
vi. Illness ( sexually transmitted diseases)
vii. Stress/Emotions
vii. Hereditary disposition (Genetic inheritance from family / Family history

Major Infertility problems with male partner:

i. Poor motility and quality of sperm cells
ii. Problems with ejaculation
iii. Diseases (Complication after mumps or sexually transmitted diseases e.g., chlamydia, syphilis, gonorrhea, HIV, etc.)
iv. Testicular Trauma (e.g. hydrocele , varicocele )
v. Life style ( Alcohol. smoking )
vi. stress / Emotions
Hereditary disposition Genetic inheritance from family / similar history in the family)

Even one single factor of semen and sperm quality matters greatly.
Common causes are:
i. Oligospermia (number below 40 million /ml)
ii. Oligospermaesthenia (poor motility of sperm)
iii. Azospermia / obstructed Azospermia

Main causes of Infertility of Female Partner:

There are3 main causes of infertility of female partner:
i. Poor functioning of ovaries( mostly with Women older than 30 years),
ii. Absence menstruation cycle or irregular cycle
iii. Cyst, Tumor/fibroid, endometriosis etc

Main homeopathic remedies of Infertility of Female partner:

i. Cimicifuga racemosa (Irritation of ovaries, Cramping pain in the uterus, pain immediately before means, profuse means,, means dark, coagulated , coagulated , backache, Heaviness of limbs, Cramping pain in the muscles

ii. Pulsatilla (suppressed means from wet feet, nervous debility, means too late, scanty, thic, dark clotted, changeable, intermittent, pain in back, chilliness, nausea, downward pressure

iii. Natrum Mur. (Means irregular, vagina dry, leucorrhoea acrid, watery, bearing down pains , suppressed means, uterus prolapsed)

iv. Sabina (Specifically with complaints of uterus ,Pain extending from coccyx's to groin and thigh, Loss of clear blood with dark lumps ,Tendency of miscarriage esp. in 3rd month

v. Sepia (Menstruation irregular: too early/ too late/ too little / profuse , Uterine prolapsed, Pain during intercourse, cross limbs to prevent protrusion, leucorrhoea yellow, greenish, vagina painful during coition}

Main Homeopathic Remedies of Male Partner:

i. Agnus castus (mental depression, poor erection or no erection,, Impotence, history of repeated gonorrhea, testicle, swollen, hard and painful)

ii.Anacardium orientales (depression associated with memory loss, seminal emission without dream, prostrates discharge during stool)

iii.Argentum nitricum (Impotence Fearful nervous causing premature ejaculation, erection fails when coition attempted, coition is painful)

iv. Caladium seg. (Sudden fall of erection during embrace and without ejaculation)

v.Dioscoria (Emission in sleep, relaxation and coldness of organs, pain
Shoot into testicles from region of kidney, excessive tea drinkers, )

vi. Conium maculatum (Testicular injury – hydrocele, varicocele, orchitis)
vii. Phosphoric acid (oligospermia & low motility of sperms)

viii. Titanium (too early ejaculation)

ix. Lycopodium (sexual dysfunction : Acquired and situational),
Premature ejaculation, impotence)

x. Tribulus terrestris ( patients of mid 40’s having partial impotence)

Conclusion:

Homeopathy should be considered as a viable treatment options for individuals and couples with infertility. More research should be carried out nationally, regionally and globally to further determine the effectiveness of homeopathy for patients with infertility.
