Turning Homeopathy Into A Household Name
Dr Batra's aim to make homeopathy the first line of treatment makes perfect sense to homeopaths who use it for themselves, their family members and observe the improved effects in their patients. One-hundred million people today use homeopathy in India.
With 400,000 practicing, India has the highest number of homeopathic doctors in the world, while graduating 20,000 new homeopathy doctors from 185 colleges annually. Thirty-five institutions now offer post graduate courses to keep skills sharp.
Dr Batra's Message is Our Message
Although homeopaths pracitce in 80 countries and people use homeopathic remedies, Dr Batra says we neglect to use this form of medicine as a prophylactic. Homeopathy can prevent disease, as well as alleviate symptoms and in many cases cure. Homeopathy can provide care for the poverty stricken and suffering at a very low economical cost when compared to the modern medical system. He provides as an example of these benefits the time when the Andhra Pradesh Government circulated Belladona homeopathy pills to prevent spread of gastroenteritis (2002). He advocates that the government should also promote public-private partnership initiatives to enable homeopathy get the necessary boost within the country and each government hospital should have at least some beds reserved for homeopathy patients. Wouldn't this be a welcome change in countries besides India?
How the perception of homeopathy in the country has changed?
When he first began his practice, homeopathy did not garnish the popularity which it does today. The use of antibiotics and technology reigned supreme. However, people in India and every country have become skeptical as MRSA and other super bugs resist antibiotics, synthetic drug side-effects proliferate with drug recalls and criminal suits against the pharmaceutical industries highlight the ties with lies.
Quote from Dr Batra On Holistic Medicine
Building His Empire
Dr Batra's clinics have the reputation of standardization across all the franchises, where each homeopathic physician has been trained and learns how to provide good care. His use of the internet and business strategies to create a brand has made his name known. Simultaneously, all his efforts have been beneficial to the entire homeopathic community by creating awareness to the public about homeopathy.
The Journey To Succeed
Resolute and persistent, Dr Batra struggled through many years and long hours as a low wage earner before he built his thriving business in homeopathy. In 1996, after 18 months of data-mining he determined that 14 major diseases, of which the conventional system of allopathy had little to offer, were being successfully treated in his homeopathic clinic.
Serendipitously, he realized building a network of clinics to reach many people who needed to be served and would bring a good income. This occurred to him after setting up his son in a clinic apart from his own geographically and then keeping in touch with an associate who moved to a new city. After a while of keeping a 7-day a week schedule prescribing for many clinics, he decided to set up a corporation.
Ambitious does not adequately describe what Dr Batra envisioned for the future. Besides creating a line of homeopathic products, he delved into personal care products like shampoos and creams, plus cosmetics and plans to open 25 to 30 new clinics every year. He has created brand loyalty across India.
