Creating Waves of Awareness
On Sunday I read in my mail that Nico Beentjes was going to join me on the Walk and I didn’t have to worry: he would show up somewhere along the road. And indeed; after about an hour and a half walking far off I saw a canary yellow spot: he was hard to miss. He camped that night and just finished his morning tea. We walked and talked all day: Nico was in Haiti and in Africa working with PC remedies and had lots of other stories. Again it was a glorious autumn day with trees showing their most spectacular colors. Every now and then we needed a little stop, for apple pie with cream or to take off the heavy bags. We arrived about 6 hours later at our destination. After a real full meal, the first one is 5 days in the Indonesian restaurant I went to my B&B and Nico disappeared in the dark.
The plan was he’d show up somewhere along the way but we missed each other: there was a deviation in the track and he didn’t know the lady of the B&B gave me an alternative path. Later on I managed to get lost in the woods, and after returning twice at the same spot and nowhere to find the next red and white marks. It was a warm summer-like day: blue sky and up to 22 degrees. Even walking in my singlet, I was pouring with sweat. Since I had to carry the heavy bag alone and the distance today was 21 kilometers without getting lost and adding some extra’s, I decided that it was better to follow the bicycle tracks to the next train station, some 6 km further. This would shorten my trip and gave me time to sunbath along the way.
One has to get lost at least one time. Sitting on a sunny terrace enjoying my soup, Nico showed up! Just in time to have a meal together and share the experiences of the day
