Protest Against Australian Court Verdict Against Homoeopathy

Melbon.docDear Friends
I am concerned about the conviction in Australia of Dr.Thomas Sam and his wife Manju, residing at 7/80 Ewart Street, Dulwich Hill- 2203, Sydney, NSW, Australia on negligent behavior regarding the care of their child.
I have heard what was printed in the Indian newspapers and found it difficult to swallow. Indian news papers reported that the accused have been punished for choosing an ineffective (Homoeopathic) treatment instead of selecting effective (Allopathic) treatment. As per my knowledge Dr.Thomas Sam is one of the eminent Homoeopathic Practitioner at Sydney and was striving to withstand the opposition from Allopathic Doctors. At a time when Australia is under a lot of racial hate crimes I don’t wish to club this also in that category, but at the same time, I wonder what the outcome would have been if the accused was a Caucasian.
I happen to know the father and one of the sisters of the accused person Manju and the version they gave me totally differs from the news given in the papers! The child in question Gloria, was born in July 2001 and she developed skin problems in Dec 2001 and the child was treated by doctors in Australia. The family visited India in Feb 2002 bringing along all the medicines prescribed in Australia. The child was treated by a host of doctors from a few continents (Australia, America and India) for the skin condition. At no time during all these treatments did any doctor say that the condition was life threatening. The family left India back to Australia with the child in a similar condition as it was when they brought her to India. On the third day of reaching Australia the child had some discoloration in her eyes and was again taken to a hospital in Australia where she was admitted and died four or five days after treatment was instituted in that hospital.
The parents are now convicted of negligence in the care of their child. THERE DEFINITELY IS SOMETHING WRONG HERE
Do negligent parents take the trouble to show doctor after doctor regarding the treatment of their child? Why did they bother to take the child back to Australia when they could have easily left the child in India( to be neglected)?I know that the parents were advised by well wishers to leave Australia when the case was being made against them, but they chose to stay because their consciences were clear regarding their care of the child. Is this behavior one of a guilty person?
Is the Australian culture so against Asians?
Are they really true in their statements that there is no racial discrimination?
Are there vested interests? Multinationals (As Homoeopathy is establishing in developed countries, multinational companies never loose a chance to hit Homoeopathy)? Hospitals? Doctors all together in a massive cover up?
Is there justice in making a child suffering from nephrotic syndrome lose his parents when he is undergoing treatment to keep the disease at bay? (Daniel, The couples’ living 3 year old son is being treated for nephrotic syndrome and is on steroids. He is not to mingle with others as he may succumb to other infections – and guess what? the law has taken his parents away)

Anyhow I wish the people who read this to question themselves and also if convinced to join in the gathering of support for the appeal against the conviction of these two people.
This may be an isolated issue but remember it could happen to anyone and you could have been the one isolated without justice.
I have started a corner for the couple called Help and another called prayer requests and prayer partners on the website and it would be good to know that there are others who feel the same way and would help spread the message to all so that we could through the people we know mobilize help for the troubled couple and their other ‘orphaned’ 3 year old son, Daniel(who has nephrotic syndrome and really needs his parents now) by prayer support, monetary if needed, political if you know people influential enough to make a noise and if you know a good lawyer willing to help - whatever God directs you to do.

We must prove that Homoeopathic medicines are effective in the treatment of eczema. The death occurred in an allopathic Hospital not under the treatment of a Homoeopath.

I appeal all my friends to

1. Write articles in Australian Medias.
2. Convince Australian Government and Doctors about the effectiveness of Homoeopathic Treatment.
3. we should inform medias that to restrict themselves from celebrating antihomoeopathic news.
Please do help send this message across to all your friends , discuss the matter and take necessary precautionary measures and finally try to bring Dr.Sam out. Please read the events happen in Chronology by downloading the attachment. God Bless.

Bravo Dr Mahajan ~ Thank you for pointing out these important facts. If only the populous could say that about their physicians and hospitals. I wonder what the 'trust' factor would be in all nations?

“Trust in Homeopathy” Worldwide
A survey has found high numbers of people who “trust in homeopathy,” including 64% of people in India, 58% Brazil, 53% Chile, 49% Saudi Arabia, 49% United Arab Emirates, 40% France, 28% Russia, 27% Germany, 18% USA, and 15% Great Britain.

PRLog (Press Release) – May 02, 2008 – An international market research company, Global TGI, has found surprisingly large numbers of people throughout the world who “trust in homeopathy.” Trust in this system of natural medicine was found in 64% of people in India, 58% Brazil, 53% Chile, 49% Saudi Arabia, 49% United Arab Emirates, 40% France, 35% South Africa, 28% Russia, 27% Germany, 25% Argentina, 18% of America, and 15% Great Britain.

Dana Ullman, MPH, America’s leading advocate for homeopathy (according to Time magazine and 20/20), notes, “More significant than the large numbers of people internationally who trust homeopathy is that the people who use or advocate for it tend to be more educated, more financially successful, and include many of the most respected cultural heroes of the past 200 years.”

Ullman’s newest book, The Homeopathic Revolution: Why Famous People and Cultural Heroes Choose Homeopathy, provides details about the use or advocacy of homeopathy by 11 U.S. Presidents as well as heads of state from England, Germany, Norway, India, and Mexico, seven popes and dozens of spiritual leaders, and hundreds of literary greats, sports superstars, world-class musicians, corporate CEOs, and celebrities.

Ullman’s book includes a foreword by Dr. Peter Fisher, the Physician to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. He asserts, “Homeopathy has always attracted people who could choose any type of health care. In addition to the British royal family and many other monarchs, my new book shows that the cultural icons of the past who have used or advocated for homeopathy include J.D. Rockefeller, Charles Darwin, Beethoven, Chopin, Emily Dickinson, and virtually all of the American transcendentalists, while modern-day users include David Beckham, Tina Turner, Cher, Tony Blair, Gabriel Garcia Marquez (“Love in a Time of Cholera”), Brian Josephson, PhD (Nobel Prize-winning physicist), Coretta Scott King, and Cindy Crawford.”

The history of homeopathic medicine in America is also notable, says Ullman, who asserts, “In early 1900s America was the worldwide leader in homeopathic medicine, when approximately 20% of physicians were homeopaths, and there were over 20 homeopathic medical schools, including Boston University, Ohio State University, University of Michigan, Hahnemann Medical College, and University of Iowa.”

Virtually all of the leading American medical schools have courses in “integrative medicine,” the new word that describes the integration of various alternative and conventional medical treatments, of which homeopathy is a part.

As per the information I received from Dr Sam's classmates, the couple had tried several medicines, one after the other from a number of doctors(including allopathic pediatrician). They also practiced some special prayers as per their religious faith. But, medicines and prayers did not help that poor girl (May her soul rest in peace). Now the court says that treatment was unscientific. Thank God, the court never said that, faith in God is also unscientific and there is no proof for the existance of God!!!!!!!

I feel (with due respect to the honourable court) the foulplay done by the insurance company and the Allopathic hospital should have been brought out by a neutral investigation.

The lession I learn from this incident is: If we homoeopaths fail to treat one case, it will be treated by our critics as the failure of homoeopathy, not the failure of one or two homoeopaths. Ofcourse, the ordinary people who are benefited by homoeopathy will never do that and they are the highest authority to make judgment on homoeopathy. And I am sure, it is because of them only homoeopathy is flourishing day by day.

Dear Dr Biju

In your blog post, it is perfectly clear that we do not have the whole story. The media has not published all the facts or the situation for this family and the children. This reminds me of the major court case of Alan Yurko who was imprisoned for life a number of years ago. The courts claimed his child died of Shaken Baby Syndrome, when Alan pleaded not guilty and that the child died from vaccination reaction.

In your article we are learning that the parents did everything in their power, bringing her to every kind of doctor for all different treatments with a clear conscience. From what you are telling us, it appears there is a family disposition to kidney disease and that was the underlying cause of Gloria's demise, not the eczema.

Perhaps the truth will come out. In the meantime, we need to support the family with prayers of faith and funding.
