Creating Waves of Awareness

Has glass memory ?
What happens when we reuse a glass bottle which previously contained a homeopathic remedy? Is washing it with detergent or soap enough or should it also be boiled with water mixed with baking soda ? What about pastel and mortar that is use to triturate different material? What do the manufacturing companies do with utensils of stainless steel and glass tubes in their laboratories after making one remedy and starting the next one?
Can any member shed light on the subject?
These questions arose in my mind after reading an article from a manufacturer preparing a special bottle to prepare potencies. He states that glass has a memory and the bottle be discarded after use because glass can retain the memory.
But we all know that great Hahnemann used pastel and mortar to triturate material and I am sure he did not discard them after each trituration.
In our free clinic I advise patients that they can reuse their glass bottles after washing it with soap and then putting it in boiling water. But if they use a PET bottle they should discard it after one use.

Dear members

Some of my patients bring back their empty bottles, which I clean and rinse thoroughly with hot water a couple of times.

Then they are dried and new labels go on them. some of the older bottles have been reused several times. I would reuse about 50  bottle a month, and it would be a waste to bring them to the bottle bank.

I never had problems with residue, or remedies not working when a reused bottle was used.

Motar and pestil have been used several times, always after a through clean.

I have one experience about the given topic. Once Pulsatilla 1M was needed for a patient. But it was found that the the bottle Named Pul. 1M was empty. With my curiosity I had put some empty globules into it and shaked well. The globules was administrated to the patient. To my surprise it worked wonderfully.
So the concept of 'glass memory' may be a reality.

I feel, the best way is to use separate vials/glasses for each patient.Dr Rafeeque.

The best.I do not think they are expensive.

Dr Rafeeque, Dr Asad, Thank you for your useful comments.
Sorry for a typo in my blog. Please read "Pestle" instead of "pastel"
I am not aware of a scientific research on this subject and was hoping someone among our members could help.

Hahnemann used separate vials for each potencies, but now we use same vial in Korsakoff's machine. The small amount of dilution remains in the bottle after removing the previous potency is considered as one part, and 99 parts of alcohol is added for next potency, and the process continues. Here the vial is not washed in between. Hence, naturally, a small portion of dilution remains in the vial. Whereas, when we wash the container thoroughly in hot water, the molecules of alcohol may not remain. In chemistry labs, we used to wash three times. But, in private clinics, we may not get sufficient time for proper washing and drying. Hence, I feel, the best way is to use separate vials/glasses for each patient. Similarly, when we give medicine in glass, should not use it immediately for another patient. At least the smell remains in the bottle even after washing, hence wait till next day till the glass is dry. I have a number of small glasses to administer the medicine in water. I do not use the same glass immediately for another patient.

We should discard the dilution bottles when it is empty, and get new sealed packs. I have seen suspended particles and fibers in dilutions purchased in loose bottles. One day i went to the shop and searched. The suspended particles are actually some dusts particles already present in the empty bottles! They were not cleaning the bottles properly before filling dilution from 450 ml bottle.

These precautions may be expensive, but the expenditure is very less compared to our consultation charges!!!

Dear Dr. Sarfraz Ahmed,

Very intresting topic. As far as glass Memory is concerned, yet there is no any research on it, but if you go through the Pharmacy CD's of the programme "HOMOPATH" there is a comment that the russian doctor's used the dried potency bottle by putting again alcohol in it and the medicine results are same.

As we are well aware that the boiling point of the Alcohol is 80 c, so when it is boiled it looses the medicinal qualities, and same as when we put the empty potency bottle in the boiling water, at 100 c, then the bottle become refresh. Same if we wash the utencils with boiling water and then put these in the Steam cattle and giving them steam for upto 15 minutes, then these utencils become refresh.

As far as trituration is concerned, the Hahneman told that after washing the pastel and mortar with alcohol, burn some alcohol in the utencils with the help of cotton. Then these utensils can be reused for fresh Trituration.

Hope i clarified the point.
