Creating Waves of Awareness

A girl aged 16 consulted me along with her father, for the management of her acute upper respiratory infection. While doing the general physical examination, I noticed clubbing of nails (Image -A). After taking the history and doing the clinical examination, I could rule out major causes for clubbing (COPD, TOF, IBDs, Hepatic diseases, etc…), especially after I examined her father. He is also having clubbing (Image B ). On inquiry, he told me that his elder son is also having the same. I gave assurance to them that it is a familial clubbing, a sign to prove paternity instead of doing a DNA test. All started laughing :D :D :D

I never leave my patients without making them cry and laugh alternately :'( :D
