Facial Hair and Unwanted Hair With Homeopathy Approach

Facial hair/unwanted hair/excessive hair growth and Homeopathy

There are certain myths about facial hair in women in some parts of Asia sub-continent, such as, it is said that facial hair in women signifies a blessing. These hairs should not be removed in any case.

Other say that women with facial hair are unreliable. Some say the complete opposite, that women become wise after the growth of facial hair.

To me, all above statements have no truth in them. No doubt, excessive facial and other unwanted hair growth is undesirable. It is the symptom of some internal disturbance and or imbalance. The research so far has shown that there are two major root causes of excessive hair growth:

a. Genetic make-up
b. Imbalance and disturbance in some harmones (especially androgen group)

The sebaceous gland associated with most hair is actually more sensitive to androgen hormones than is the hair follicle. Hyperstimulation of the sebaceous gland accompanied by bacterial infection results in acne. The endocrinologic factors that influence the pilosebaceous unit are: the rate and amount of androgen secretion by the ovary and adrenal gland the blood concentration of sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG) conversion in the fat cells and skin of weak, less potent androgens, to potent androgens sensitivity of the pilosebaceous unit to androgens

Note: The pilosebaceous unit consists of the hair shaft, the hair follicle, the sebaceous gland which makes sebum, and the erector pili muscle which causes the hair to stand up when it contracts.

Unwanted and or excessive hair growth depends upon several different factors. Therefore, the best way to treat above condition is to control these factors.

altered androgen metabolism
increased androgen production
decreased androgen binding in the circulation
exogenous androgens

Note: Increased growth of hair on the face of women just before and just after menopause is quite a common occurrence. It is primarily because of decreased estrogens.

What Homeopathy Says

Homeopathy is very unique treating system and does not favour the use of cream, lotions, waxing and other methods used for the removal of facial hair. As mentioned above, the facial hair and other excessive hair growth is due to certain imbalance in the body. The homeopath believes in activating the body’s own immune systme to treat all types of diseases. The names of diseases are meaningless in homeopathy. The homeopathy treats the patient, keeping in view the totality of symtoms.

Here is a list of homeopathic medicines which are mostly used in treating the facial hair and other parts excessive hair growth. Select the most matching medicine. For further reading, consult the Materia Medica. In case of any confusion, consult your physician.

Homeopathic Treatment:

1. THUJA 10M just once a month for three months. Three doses in total.
2. Oleum jac 3x and Thuja 3x, if taken on alternate week usually remove this complaint.

What is Oleum Jac? I can only find Oleum Jecoris. I have a patient who would like to try this.

It is dangerous to apply this local application. Avoid contact with saliva and blood.

Das Bishambar has also much talked about weisbaden medicine. I have used it and it has no result at all. All bogus info.

3 -6 months is not bad compared to other methods. Less painful, and less costly.

Rai Bahadur Bishambar Das, in his book "Select Your Remedy, adds a note under Hair Growth - Unwanted: "Take yellow sulphate of arsenic and quick lime in equal parts and make into a paste with hot water. Apply the paste and allow it to dry on the face. No hair will show there for weeks, may be never."

Do you know what he is talking about? I have discussed with this some of my colleagues and we aren't familiar with the terms he is using. Are you? I would like to investigate this formula.

Looking forward to hearing back from you.

Thanks Marilyn for appreciating the information.
Yes, I have treated many cases of facial hair with Thuja and Oleum Jac.
I have seen results in one week to one month, mostly in acute cases not associated with chronic disease. However, it took time (3-6 month) in some cases.

Thanks for posting this information about unwanted hair, Mohammed. Have you treated with this method? How is the progress of it? How long does it take to see results? Yes, I know that it is individual - but is there a time where we would see results starting?
