In tropical areas like the city of Mazatlan, Sinaloa, Mexico, in which i live, is common to see the epidemiological brigades with people from health department, delivering bags of "abate" (insecticide) for water tanks of houses or also giving information about the importance of avoiding puddles and pots where water accumulates. It is also common to hear at night the noise emitted by traditional pump trucks spraying vaporized insecticide, all this to prevent reprotudction of Aedes aegypti, mosquito considered the transmitter (vector) of the disease.
The classic dengue and dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) are acute febrile diseases in the tropics, in Africa, northern Australia and South America, although in recent times is taking place in Europe and North America.
It´s associate with four viruses (DEN-1, DEN-2, DEN-3 or DEN-4) closely related serotypes of the genus Flavivirus, family Flaviviridae. 1
Dengue is known as "Breakbones" disease and Breakbones fever.
It has a geographical spread similar to that of malaria, but unlike the latter, dengue is often found in urban areas of tropical countries.
It is characterized by fever and severe pain in joints and muscles, swollen lymph nodes and occasional rash of skin.
This infectious disease is manifested by
- Sudden onset of fever, which can last from 3 to 5 days, but rarely persists for more than a week,
-Pains in the joints (arthralgia), so it has been called "break-bone fever"
- Skin rashes, bright red, called petechiae, which usually appears in the lower limbs and chest of patients, from where it spreads to cover most of the body.
- Gastritis with a combination of abdominal pain.
-Inflammation of the spleen.
- Nausea with bitter taste sensation
-Distorted perception of the taste of food,
"Some cases develop much milder symptoms
-Haemorrhagic tendency (positive tourniquet test, spontaneous bruising, bleeding of mucous membranes, gums, the site of injection, etc., vomiting blood or bloody diarrhea) and thrombocytopenia (less than 100,000 platelets per mm 3 or less by the estimate 3 platelets per high-power field in microscopic examination).
-Proof of plasma leakage (hematocrit more than 20% higher than expected, or drop in hematocrit of 20% or more from baseline after the infusion of intravenous fluids as a result of pleural effusion, ascites, and hypoproteinemia).
Dengue shock syndrome (DSS), which is defined as dengue hemorrhagic fever, beside:
-Weak rapid pulse
-Reduction of pulse pressure (less than 20 mm Hg) or
-Cold, moist skin and agitation.
-As complementary studies, serology and the chain reaction polimerasaa CRP are often used to confirm the diagnosis of dengue.
I have been witness that homeopathy has resolved 100% of cases of Dengue that have been treated in my office. I would like to mention the principal remedy that through repertorization highlighted in the most of cases and which i believe has an excellent reputation and it is Eupatorium Perfoliatum:
This remedy has a "bruised feeling like heartbreak, in the whole body" (Arnica, Bellis, Pyrogen). The patient suffers of intense pain as if bones were broken.
To Eupatorium was given the name "boneset" because in an epidemic called "breakbone” Fever (Dengue), this was the drug that cured or composed the bones .
Three features stand out prominently to indicate this medicine:
1.-Hourly of Chill: 7-9 am.
2.-Severe pain in the bones before the chill.
3.-Vomiting of bile in the chill with hyperthermia.
Of course there are more symptoms but these are a sure guide and I have personally verified their effectiveness.
Because in my practice I've only seen four patients ( I had written one patient, but the last months the number has gone incressing due to my region is an endemic zone and even when authorities are worried with H1N1 Influenza, It seems to be Degue is more dangerous, mortal and a big problem, even Dengue has extended to regions where usually had no been presenting cases of Dengue as Guadalajara city) with hemorrhagic dengue, I'd like to share this experience by presenting one of those clinical cases.
Approximately 1 year ago I was asked to go home consultation where I found a young male 19 years of age, which was in poor condition referring mild pain in the bones of the legs, arms and back, and headache. Also referred nosebleeds and bleeding gums when brushing his teeth following this great prostration.
He reported great weakness, chills and intermittent fever predominantly at evening. By observation it saw discrete effusions of blood in the conjunctiva of the eyes and skin.
It is worthy to mention that the patient had been 2 days in the hospital where he had been administered intravenous fluids and Paracetamol tablets. When he was discharged from hospital bleeding still was not present.
Laboratory tests were carried out which reported increases in lymphocytes, decreased platelets (<50, 000), and increased liver enzymes (transaminases) showed damage and inflammation in the liver. The PCR was positive.
I proceeded to give Crotalus horridus 30c plus system, as needed. Finding almost complete improvement at 48 hours, it was administered a single dose of 200c potency with which the patient was cured.
Usually in all acute diseases the homeopathic remedy tends to cut the period of manifestation in amazing form.
