Show Me The Way . . .

Looking back at the previous year where I put a homeopathic footprint in 9 countries, walked about 2000 km, linked lots of people and could donate almost 10.000 euro to homeopathic projects, I can’t but have a feeling of accomplishment.

It was a Walk through homeopathy-land within and without myself. The latter is expressed in the facts just mentioned, the motto ‘Walk-Heal-Link’, in the actual trajectories followed, the efforts and joys of walking and the meetings and…

Last leg of the Walk for Homeopathy to Paris

From all the trajectories of the Walk for Homeopathy there are little video clips. Have a look, because pictures say more than words. Here's the one of the last track to Paris.…

Paris The City Of Light

The weather forecast was simply disastrous when we set out for the last route of the Walk in Saint–Jean–aux-Bois on the hiking trail GR12. And indeed the pouring rain in the afternoon urged us to call the rescue teams. Christel and her husband Jan had their van parked nearby and Jo, the husband of Katlijn who walked with me, was stand by with their mobile home. The…

Last leg of the Walk for Homeopathy In France

.

For 6 days we followed a beautiful hiking trail to Paris where we arrived the evening of the 14th. On the last day of the Walk, some 28 people gathered in the Metro station and we started our finale trajectory through Paris, via the house where Hahnemann had his successful last years of practice to his tomb on the famous graveyard Père Lachaise. The ceremony started with a speech and a handing over of the flag of the Walk for Homeopathy to our founding father. Delegates…

Things Will Never Be The Same

As the end of the Walk for Homeopathy comes near and we are preparing for the apotheosis and festive closure in Paris at Hahnemann’s grave, it is appropriate to take a moment and look back.

What strikes me first is the shift of focus from ‘homeopathic activism’ to what I would call an inner quest. Breaking with my routine and stepping out of the comfort zone I exposed myself to many new situations, people and…

Bridge the Gap

Preparing the lecture for our own workshop, Bridge the Gap, I invited participants to have a look at the article in  Homeopathy f4 Everyone,  which is in fact a chapter from my book “Homeopathy: Strange, Rare and Peculiar”.

In the article with the title, “The Healing Setting” I explain that in order for healing to occur, some conditions need to be met: the healer must have the intention…

Open Door Blog

Last Saturday The Centre of Classical Homeopathy (CKH), which I established in 1991 held its 23rd Open Door at the beginning of a new academic year. Traditionally, there are information stands, book sellers and lectures by the teachers.

The day started with a clear and to the point explanation of the legal situation of homeopathy in Belgium. Though we are waiting for…

The Next Column

Thursday, the three of us took the bus to Faaborg, a nice little town where we visited the museum and the city center. Although it was in the middle of the week and school started already, the atmosphere was very relaxed. People were sitting on the terraces enjoying a cup of coffee in the sun. Walking with a…

For The First Time In Denmark

Monday I was waited for in Copenhagen airport by Signe Schepelern, I only knew from mail dialogues so far. She took me for a quick tour in the city before we met Jost (who flew in from Germany) and Michal (from Israel today as well). We were invited by Jeanette and Ole for dinner and to stay overnight. It was wonderful to sit around the table with homeopaths from 4…

The Botanical Garden

My walking started in Greece as I explained a few posts before, but homeopathy actually started in my (first) garden. At that time, herbs were my main interest. I read every book I could lay my hands on, at that time a limited number, and I planted herbs in my garden.  Many herbs could be picked in the wild as well and dried to make a decoction. So much was I fascinated by the subject, that I wrote a herb encyclopedia myself. I was 22 years old and stayed home most of the time with…

Plants Will Come At Our Rescue

My feeling- or is it my wishful thinking?- is that plants will help us out.  The movie Carol Boyce is currently making about Homeopathy on the Farm is a brilliant idea. Farmers are pragmatic people and it seems they are powerful as well, at least in the UK. They will use homeopathy if it works and when it doesn’t they won’t give it a second chance. I even asked myself…

Scotland In The Sun

About the time Aster left, my friend and colleague Louisa arrived in Edinburg. She was going to walk with me the second week. On Monday I talked at the get- together Elizabeth Biagi organized at her place.  After hesitating (and sending my letter to the minister as a reaction to her decision) I finally managed to let my computer there until Friday. It seemed like a good idea to leave everything behind for a few days and enjoy the walking (with a much lighter rug sack). It would keep…

Grandmother and Granddaughter.

Aster and I decided to have a day off, go shopping in Falkirk, feed the squirrels in the park and then take the bus to the FIfe Coastal Path.  We stayed a night in Dunfermline and started walking from there along the coast. We followed the well signposted path and had a rest now and then on the sandy beaches. The weather was (again: unusual) warm for Scotland: we didn’t expect at all to get sunburnt, or lose so many liters sweat on this trip!…

Walking With A Heavy Heart

Yesterday the decision of het minister of public Health in Belgium was announced in the media. The basic line is that only medical trained people will be allowed to practice homeopathy and they will have to use this title as follows: MD-homeopath, dentist-homeopath, midwife-homeopath.  It will be impossible to consult “a homeopath”, I mean a professional homeopath,…

Edinburg and the Forth and Clyde Tow Path

On the warm and sunny Sunday, the 7th of July Aster and I landed in Edinburg. It was a real lazy Sunday with the parks full of families with children, picnicking on the grass, bagpipers in the background. Next day we went shopping and visiting the Old Town with the domineering Castle. Although very impressive the lady on the street who holds the Guinness…

The Weeks In Between

Just as the silence in between the thoughts and the rest in between the breaths, the in-between  periods of the Walk are as important to awareness.  Besides having time to be with my loved ones, to see patients and evaluate the students’ final exams, it’s an opportunity to process thoughts and experiences of the previous time.

In my last book “Homeopathy: Strange, Rare and Peculiar” I explained that three components are essential for a healing setting: a patient, a…

Open Teachings

It would have been impolite to not respond to the invitation of George Vithoulkas, and  moreover a visit to the Academy of Classical Homeopathy, where thousands of homeopaths are trained , was not to be missed. I was left the choice to pick one day from Friday on of the Open trainings. I could then   follow the course as a guest and a meeting with George was arranged.…

Alonissos

On the very same hiking initiation in Greece mentioned in the previous post I became an epicurist. Being spoiled as a child and then having gone through periods of deprivation and poverty, my conclusion was that postponing gratification makes it all the more pleasurable when it finally comes. The first hike with its strenuous mountain climbing, waiting long hours for food and drinks, its hot weather and sleeping outside turned out to be the justification for this idea. Until today it…

Greece; or where it all begun…

This trajectory of the Walk for Homeopathy takes me to Greece.

I’ve been in Greece several times before. Actually the island of Lefkada was the first destination I’ve chosen to walk with the adventurous travel agency “Anders Reizen”. That was 30 years ago and it was my initiation in hiking: a first experience of complete contentment, vitality, wellbeing and sheer…
