What brought you to homeopathy? Tell your 150 word inspirational story that connects you to homeopathy. How has homeopathy changed your life?: My first contact with homeopathy was twelve years ago when I was trying to quit smoking. I was a chain smoker, unable to stop. After detailed inquiry about what it meant for me to smoke and how I felt when I tried not to, the homeopath gave a combination of three remedies: one for detoxing, one for the cravings and one for emotional and nervous system support. The remedies worked extremely well. The one for the craving I could actually feel its physical action every time I took it. It was a difficult process for me but I’ve never smoked since that day and I was forever fascinated to try to know more about Homeopathy and how the remedies worked!

A few years later when I finally had a chance to study homeopathy I started a journey of both self-healing and understanding the world at a level I never thought possible before - and I’m still doing it - hoping to learn more and more!

What is your vision for the future of homeopathy: Homeopathy is growing at a fast pace. It’s the second most popular healing system, the first being conventional medicine. I believe that at some point science will catch up to it and will be able to explain how it works.

For now homeopathy is much ridiculed by a minority, but fanatical movement, known as the Skeptics. There is nothing new about some trying to marginalize and dismiss homeopathy’s healing ability. This has always been the way ever since Hahnemann first created it and yet Homeopathy not only has survived, it has also thrived.

As a homeopath I don’t concern myself with trying to justify it scientifically, I’m more concerned about getting to know well all the remedies available and understanding how and when to prescribe them. I read remedy provings, old and new, like some people read novels…can’t put them down!

I envisage that our mission as homeopaths is to try to find new ways to deal with sustained damage that chemicals, genetic manipulation and radiation is doing to us all and to our environment and to find new ways to strengthen our immune response!

This can only be done by continuous adaptation to the new challenges we face.

I believe Hahnemann himself was continuously discovering new ways to perfect Homoeopathy and that he didn’t see it like a definite model - finalized and unable to change. After all he was already on the 6th edition of the Organon when he died. In my opinion we should honour him and the wonderful healing system he created by understanding the need for adaptability, growth and development of this amazing healing art.

I’m a people’s person, I’m also an eternal student. By joining the network I hope to inspire and be inspired by my colleagues. It is good to partake in the amazing pool of knowledge that together we hold!

Why I would like to join this network?: I want to promote homeopathy, I want to meet like-minded people, I want to learn more about homeopathy, I want to advocate for homeopathy, I want to join a local community of homeopaths, I want to be involved with the homeopathic community at large

Write detailed background to introduce yourself. What school did you attend? Year of graduation? Degree or diploma? Where do you practice?: I started by completing one year of the three years course at Lakeland college, at their London division. Although I loved what I was learning, and was inspired by the many homeopaths who lectured us through out the year, once I realised that my favourite homeopath author had a college in London and I went to open day I couldn’t leave - I was supposed to sit with them for a couple of hours but I ended up staying the whole weekend.

The college was the School of Shamanic Homeopathy, run by Yubraj Sharma. I went back to Lakeland and explained to Anne Waters that I self that I needed the deeper spiritual component that Yubraj’s course provided. She gave me a big hug and told me that I would always be part of the Lakeland family, and that if at any time wished to return and complete their course and would always be welcome. This was in 2004, I have done Yubraj’s four year course, and I’m now at my second year of his pos-graduation and I’d never look back! The spiritual growth and understanding of Homeopathy, Chinese Medical System, Herbalism, and Cranio-Sacral therapy has been immense.

Although I haven’t been in touch with Anne since, she’s forever in my heart, for how much she taught me in that first year and for her understanding that we are all unique and sometimes we need to grow in different ways!

Other teachers who have inspired much were Madeline Evans - I attended her seminar on throat chakra remedies at a crucial time when I myself suffered from overactive thyroid but refused medical treatment and decided to do it all with homeopathy. Thanks to my homeopath, Grace da Silva Hill and to what I learnt at Madeline’s seminar I was given the all clear by my consultant who had kindly agreed to just monitor me in case things got worst.

Another teacher who inspired much is Jan Scholten: I attended his seminar on the Secret Lanthanides a couple of years ago and I have been able to prescribe them on occasions. I love the periodic system method of prescribing and I believe that it helps us to penetrate so much deeper into the psyche of the patient for healing!

Recently I’ve had the privilege of meeting and chatting to Francis Treuherz and I have learnt so much about small remedies and their keynotes! He’s given my clues on how to look for remedies, suggest books that I should read…he is the essence of true teacher: encouraging you to learn more and more. And he has the most fantastic collection of homeopathic historical artefacts and books. He has remedies from Victorian times, engravings of Hahnemann at various stages of his life…the first time I saw them I felt moved to tears, that someone had been so lovingly collecting and recovering these objects! They are part of our inheritance as homeopaths - I wish all the homeopaths in the world were able to see them and to experience their energy and the healing power they still hold!

What are your interests besides homeopathy? Inquiring minds want to know.: I’m originally an actress: I trained and graduate in dramatic studies in my country Portugal, where I acted professionally for seven before moving to England.
I still film, and theatre both as an actress and as a viewer. I’ve also written a few screenplays which wait for an literary agent…
I’m very spiritual, I meditate a lot, and normally combine healing techniques with my knowledge of homeopathy in order to help my patients.
I blog as the Undercover Homeopath about current issues and remedies that could help some public figures.
I’m active on twitter making friends and helping to promote homeopathy as @urban_healing
