Creating Waves of Awareness

I stumbled across the rubric MIND: Touched today after the last Health Inn Show talk with Mary Ellen when we discussed the sensitivity of plants. We talked a lot about Arnica and not so much about Aconite. My question concerns what I found in these subrubrics.

Why is arnica not listed for touch aggravates, and only for touch aversion?

Did you realize there were so many remedies listed?

Do you have any case examples of when you used this rubric and it lead to a successful remedy selection?

This goes for a human:

I found arnica (C6, 30, 12, 15, 9 even 200) useless for this kind of symptom. Rather rhus tox (C12, 15, 30 even 9), after many consultations with other homeopaths. There is an old lady who has a neural pain-like irritability running throughout her legs from the outer side of her thigh to her big toe. This causes her flesh and skin very irritable to touch. Basically, anything, including the breeze or air. Wet and cold towel helped a bit, temporarily. Rhus tox ceased the symptom in 5 minutes. One pill at a time from any potency can help. We used C 12. In few weeks the symptom gone. Sometimes it comes back but one pill will heal her symptom. She had a very tough life and she is a hyper sensitive person.

Serendipitously, today's BlogTalkRadio show with Dr Aadil "touched" upon this very theme. We talked about the use of arnica in angina and other situations when anticipation of pain requires arnica. In fact, Dr Aadil says that Arnica should be listed BOTH under touch aggravates and also touch aversion. When one anticipates with anxiety the potential pain and when one is actually touched and feels the pain.

One great hint was the use of arnica in place of Sorbitrate when vessels become blocked.

  • Isosorbide dinitrate is in a group of drugs called nitrates. Isosorbide dinitrate dilates (widens) blood vessels, making it easier for blood to flow through them and easier for the heart to pump.
  • Isosorbide dinitrate is used to treat or prevent attacks of chest pain (angina).
  • Isosorbide dinitrate may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this medication guide.

Thank you. wasalaman

Arnica patient experiences ascending type of rheumatism, like ledum. He has oversensitivity to touch, cannot bear pain. There is great fear of being touched or stuck by person coming near him and thus causing him pain. Hence averse to being touched or of persons coming near him to touch.

Thank you for your contribution to this conversation and teaching us the modalities of arnica to rheumatism and comparison to ledum. Very good to know.

Ledum is not listed in the rubrics above. How to find this modality?

Ledum too has rheumatism and gout which are of ascending type like Arnica, often from the feet upwards to knees with unbearable pains when walking as from the sprains of false step, pain in the heels as if bruised.Ankles and soles are very sensitive, very painful, patient can step on them. There could be stiffness of all joints which could be moved by application of cold water. In ledum pains are worse at night, in the heat of the bed and on walking. And pains are better from cold water or by putting the feet in ice cold water. (Sec.Cor also there is pain amelioration by cold application). In arnica, there is aggravation in damp cold weather, from being touched and there is amelioration by lying down.
