This is a story of a poor women who staked her life in a backward and conservative village atmosphere and won her battle for education with help of Madonna and some education loving and oriented agencies in Pakistan.
The story is inspiring and paves the way for others with guts to follow her footsteps. We already have a icon in Malala who continues to fight for education.
In each generation, a few people challenge cultural norms and begin to change society. Fighting against the odds, Bachal secretly began her own journey toward literacy. Realizing so many women could find freedom through education to a better life, economic and social status, while uplifting their own community.
When confronted, luckily, her mother supported her dream and vision.
City FM | Madonna introduces Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy, the movie producer who documented the true story of Bachal of Pakistan. The Film Trailer above features a voiceover by Madonna, this version of Humaira: The Dream Catcher chronicles the life of a young woman who is fighting to educate girls in her community. Through sheer determination, she has set up a school that now educates over 1200 children, each for one cent a day.
A conversation with the film producer, who highlights the lives of people living in Pakistan. From children, abused women and the downtrodden, she gets angry and channels the emotions into an educational film to action. The larger the issue the better.
